Created by local artist Roberta Halliburton, Nature Strikes a Chord is a one-of-a-kind sculptural ukulele that transforms a familiar instrument into a lyrical tribute to the natural world. With an interplay of glass, copper and leather, this beautiful uke offers a tactile harmony that invites you to pause and take in the quiet, ever-present music of nature.
The body of the ukulele is intricately mosaiced with hand-cut glass tiles shaped into leaves, seeds, and winding stems. Hand-sculpted branches rise gracefully from the instrument. In place of conventional strings, slender strands of copper wire stretch across the body and painted leather leaves are delicately affixed to these copper “strings.”
